17 Nov Incident at the start of the march of tolerance

Instead of tolerance, a violent incindent happened before the start of the march of tolerance in Skopje, Macedonia organized with the message of stopping discrimination.
Kochо Andonovski and Marko Kovachevski were physically attacked by several persons while they were preparing the stands for the event on the main city square in Skopje. They were transferred to the hospital, where Kovacheski was held for further examinations of his injuries.
The police reacted immediately and arrested a thirty-eight year old person from Skopje.
Representatives from the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights said that they are not surprised by the incident and that they previously asked for a stronger police presence on the event.
The march of tolerance is being held for the forth time and this year it was dedicated to the LGBT population in Macedonia. Besides the severe problems of the LGBT population in the country, the organizers of the event addressed other issues such as hate speech against women, and requested a real implementation of the law for protection against discrimination.
