USAID LGBTI Inclusion Project celebrates the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and promotes the campaign ‘Rights and justice for all’

Today at the Journalists’ Club the USAID LGBTI Inclusion Project, implemented by the LGBTI Support Centre-Helsinki Committee for human rights and partner organizations Coalition ‘Sexual and Health Rights of Marginalized Communities’ and LGBT United Tetovo, celebrated the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) and promoted the campaign ‘Rights and justice for all’. Representatives of LGBTI organizations and human rights activists attended the event.

 

At the event, messages of encouragement were sent by Ms. Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission to Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Uranija Pirovska, Executive Director of Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and Mr. Kocho Andonovski, the project’s Chief of Party. In this way of showing our celebration of IDAHOT, also the concept of “Rights and justice for all” campaign and the participants in it were engaged in reflecting conditions with violations of LGBTI rights, but also reflecting the possibilities for struggle and emancipation in Macedonian society.

The USAID LGBTI Inclusion Project aims to improve the integration of LGBTI people in society and advance their rights in Macedonia. This project supports the implementation of the international human rights laws in Macedonia and the country’s National Strategy for Equality and Non-discrimination. The project was launched in September 2016 and will run through March 2018.
